STDC is the Federation Item Identification Guide code for the “surface treatment document and classification” specification.

Definition The specification, standard, or manufacturers reference, and the classification designation, such as type, class, grade, and the like, that identifies the surface treatment material.
Instructions Enter the applicable Identified Secondary Address Coding Indicator from Appendix A, Table 1, followed by the Mode Code and the applicable Reply Codes from Tables 1 and 2 below, followed by the document designator and classification.
