Countersunk screw

Countersunk screws are a specific type of threaded fasteners used by Starfleet which all conform to the ISO metric screw thread definitions as codified in ISO 261 which were developed by the Interstellar Organization for Standardization. In almost all engineering applications, particularly spacecraft or aerospace flight hardware, this type of machine screw uses the Torq-set offset cruciform configuration as the type of driver slot.

It is one of four basic machine screw configurations that are typically used in Starfleet, the others being raised countersunk, panhead, and isotrap head screw. In additon, most Starfleet engineering applications can also utilize ISO metric hexagon socket screws which are limited to two different head shapes: cap screw, and countersunk socket screw.
