AYSY is the Federation Item Identification Guide code for the “Rotation direction for which designed” specification.

Definition The direction of rotation for which the item is designed.
Instructions Enter the applicable Reply Code from the table below.
Misc. The rotation is determined by viewing as follows:
  • View axial type impellers from the air discharge side.
  • View single width centrifugal type impellers from the drive side (closed or spoked side for hub support).
  • View double width centrifugal type impellers from the hub projecting side. If the hub projects from both sides, view from either side.
  • View fans from the drive (motor) side, except inverted centrifugal fans will be viewed from the side opposite the air inlet.
Note For items having a motor with a double-ended shaft, orient the item being described as depicted in Styles 52 and 52A or 57 and 57A, Appendix B, Reference Drawing Group A.
