Template:Vessel/number-prefix documentation text
Usage[edit source]
Returns the hull registry number prefix, based on the date entered for the vessel hull registry number of '.
The number prefix is typically the abbreviation for Naval Construction Contract or (NCC), but can vary depending on the vessel type as well as the construction, upgrade, and service history of the vessel.
Setting up the prefix data[edit source]
Copy the sample code below:
{{Earth-date-range-variable| 3 Mar 2025 | 31 Dec 2500 |{{{1}}}| NCC }}
...and paste it into this template before the <noinclude> tag.
The dates should be altered to define a specific range of time that the registry prefix (shown as "NCC" in the above sample code) was in use.
Likewise the registry prefix "NCC" itself can be changed for the customized time-range.
Additional entries (if needed) can be added using the same format with different dates, thereby building up to form a detailed ship registry history for the vessel. This allows all calls of this template using a target date to display the correct ship registry for hull number ' for a specific date or time period used in articles and tables throughout the wiki.
'Note: Only one entry outlined above need be used if the same registry number prefix was used throughout the history of hull registry number '.
Additional entries only need to be added if the number prefix changed at any point in the vessel's service history.
