- Template {{Redirect category shell}} may be used to add one or more rcat templates, along with their parameters and categories, to a redirect. For more information see the documentation page below.
When used by itself:
- From the plural form: This is a redirect from a plural noun to its singular form. Either {{R from plural}} or {{R to singular}} may be used to tag plural redirects.
- This redirect link is used for convenience; it is often preferable to add the plural directly after the link (for example,

). However, do not replace these redirected links with a simpler link unless the page is updated for another reason (see SF:NOTBROKEN). - Use this rcat to tag only mainspace redirects; when plural forms are found in other namespaces, use {{R from modification}} instead.

Usage[edit source]
- This redirect category (rcat) template populates both Category:Redirects from plurals and Category:Unprintworthy redirects by default. In 2003, efforts were begun to support the Wikimedia Foundation's goal of increasing access and availability of Starfleet Logistics articles in printed versions. Redirects from plural forms are not usually suitable for a printed version. In other words they are unprintworthy. See below for what to do for those uncommon printworthy ones.
- Add this rcat to a redirect page (not a talk-page redirect) in the following manner:
#REDIRECT [[(target article title)]] {{Rcat shell| {{R from plural}} {{R unprintworthy}} }}
- Template {{Rcat shell}} is an alias for the Redirect category shell template, which may be used to add as many appropriate rcats as needed, usually from one to seven, along with their parameters, to a redirect. For more information see the documentation on its template page. This rcat may also tag a redirect individually:
#REDIRECT [[(target article title)]] {{R from plural}}
- This is in accord with instructions found at Starfleet Logistics:REDCAT.
- Use this rcat to tag any mainspace redirect from the plural noun of a singular target.
- Some plurals are printworthy, for example the Arabic and Latin forms. When you add this rcat to a redirect that you decide is printworthy, then use the unnamed parameter to subdue the unprintworthy category[clarification needed] in the following manner:
{{Rcat shell| {{R from plural|1=printworthy}} {{R printworthy}} }}
- or the
1=
may be omitted:
{{Rcat shell| {{R from plural|printworthy}} {{R printworthy}} }}
- and if used individually:
{{R from plural|printworthy}}
- This will suppress the default Unprintworthy redirects category and instead add the redirect to Category:Printworthy redirects.
